All Natural Soaps from Old Time Farmhouse

"Just John"
What could be more FARMHOUSE STYLE for the bath than HOMEMADE SOAP?
The kind Grandmother made? . .Not quite. . .Lye soap was used mostly for washing clothes. . .Nope. . .My choice of soaps are made at Old Time Farmhouse. . .the ones that are good to the skin, vegan, and all natural.

"Sweet Sara"-"Sunflower Sue"-"Country Kate"-"Loveable Lucy"

 SOAP. . .SOAP. . .SOAP. . .You see it everywhere. . .
The popularity of homemade soap lately is staggering. . .yet. . .just because they're homemade doesn't guarantee they won't be harmful to your skin. . .As in all things, a little research will go a long way in uncovering which soaps are good for the body and your health as well. . .

I'm no stranger to soap research. . .Several years ago I began a medical treatment that ruled out the use of many topical products on the market. . .No more preservatives of any kind. . .No more salicylates. . .No more this. . .No more that. . .What I ended up with was the very basics. . .and that included soap. . .The only brand I could use was Ivory--99 PURE. . .I did try a few homemade soaps, not knowing the difference in them. . .None were well tolerated. . .

Fast forward to our recent visit with Cindy at OLD TIME FARMHOUSE in Kentucky. . .
Of course, I had to see her home which included a tour of her amazing soap-making room. . .I learned so much about soap that day, including the differences in quality and ingredients that go in them. . .I wondered if maybe I could use them. . .Cindy must have been reading my mind because as we were leaving, she had a big brown bag of her very special soaps for us. . .
All I can say is:
"Move over Ivory". . .You have competition. . .!!!!

I LOVE these soaps. . .They are good for my skin. . .and I've had NO reactions to them at all. . .Each one is all natural with ingredients such as: Olive Oil, Palm Oil. Coconut Oil. Caster Oil, Mango Butter, Lavender Oil, Honey, Oatmeal, Almond Oil, Cinnamon & Spices, Vitamin E--just to name a few. . . I also love that Cindy treats her soaps like family. . .She's named each one of them. . .names like JUST JOHN (which John swears was named after him), SWEET SARA, SUNFLOWER SUE, COUNTRY KATE, LOVEABLE LUCY, HARVEST HANNAH, MISS ROSEMARY.

Cindy sells her soaps on Etsy at OLD TIME PICKERS. . .Follow the link and check it out. . .And while you're there, take a look at Cindy's RUST & CRUST & WEATHERED FINDS for sale, too. . .Always a treat. . .

Do I sound like a commercial? . .(grin). . .I'm not. . .Simply passing on a little wisdom to you. . .What are friends for? . . In fact, I plan to feature more finds/products here at Our Old Country Store this year. . .And, hopefully I'll be expanding OUR OLD COUNTRY STORE beyond rag rug looms. . .to offer a few more items for your own  'FARMHOUSE'. . .If you have any suggestions or requests, please email us. . .We'd love hearing your ideas. . .

Til next time, My Friends

Weekend Finds

Ran into a few Farmhouse items for sale this weekend.
Wasn't officially shopping. . . .
But, sometimes that's how it goes.

I try to be a good "Boy Scout". . . .
bring along plenty of money--
and packing material,
whether I'm junkin' or not!

Glass domes for cloches, ironstone pitchers. . . .

A farmhouse style print. . .

Crocks, china, a potato masher, huge glass jars. . . .

Yes. . . .I'm glad I was prepared. . . .even if I wasn't shopping. . . .

Friday Finds

We had business in Paragould, AR Friday,
so to mix a little pleasure with business,
we stopped at five antique malls, one thrift store,
and three yards sales.

Warmer weather is here. . . .
and the buys are out there!

Seemed as if I was running into lots of buys on
Farmhouse/Cottage style dishes,
Ironstone platters, vintage clothing,
and a wicker piece or two.
Fine with me. . . .
I love them all

 Here's just a few of our finds. . . .
A pristine early 1900s girl's smock in linen came home with me. . .
as did vintage books, hankies, old lace and the bottom half of a lantern.

Two really cute pink china and ceramic potties,
pink baby booties, and a beautiful little Hull vase.
I already have one of these vases and love it.

Ironstone and china platters seemed to jump into my hands all day long. . . .

I did find a few practical items to tote home. . . .
dish pans and more buckets--
just can't seem to get enough of those either.
John found the vintage camera for 1.99. . . .
I found two bags of memorabilia for 1.00

We saw lots of bargains all day--
so tempting to buy. . . .but I resisted and remained true
to the items I needed.

Interested in testing your luck in Paragould?
Just follow AR Hwy 412 East.
It's also called East Kingshighway inside city limits.
You'll find flea markets and antique malls all along the road.
A few are only open Thurs-Sat, but you'll still have plenty of shopping available.

There's one place you shouldn't miss. . . .
Amazing Things at 215 E. Kingshighway (412), 870-236-8222
Always a treat. . . .
Others include: Bucca John's, 412 Flea Market, Antique Treasures.
If you venture downtown, you'll find even more interesting places to visit,
including an Abilities Unlimited Thrift Store.
Most weekends, there's yard sales galore!
Sometimes an auction or two.
We simply ask the locals what's happening around town.
But, watch out if you do the same--
they might treat you like family and tell you a story or two!
